Introduction
Anglers from 10 Countries, including Russia, participated in the international fishing tournament, which took place on September 7 2022 in the Gulf of Finland and followed the PRO ANGLERS LEAGUE format like the Texas saltwater fishing tournaments 2022.
The competition was hosted near the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, which is one of the world’s first facilities to receive the cutting-edge Generation III+ VVER-1200 reactors supplied by ROSATOM internationally and is the largest operating nuclear power station in terms of installed capacity in Russia.

The geography of the tournament has expanded greatly. In total, 26 amateur anglers took part in the international fishing tournament. They are representatives of Russia as well as Armenia, Hungary, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Africa, and Turkey, countries where Rosatom is now building or wants to build nuclear power plants.

Thanks to the dosimetric control, the tournament participants were able to confirm both the cleanliness and fish abundance of the Gulf of Finland. All fish were released back into the water safely after taking weight. A total of 203 fish that weighed more than 7 kg were caught. Vladimir Inozemtsev, the head coach of the Russian national team and a two-time world and seven-time world champion, served as the competition’s chief judge.
Vadim Titov, president of the Rosatom International Network, stated: “Rosatom has been hosting fishing competitions in close-by station water bodies for more than ten years, even though the event is held on such a broad international scale for the second time. Such opportunities, which give us the ability to demonstrate that nuclear energy is a clean source of energy and that nuclear technology and nature coexist peacefully, are highly valued by us. And we are pleased that our visitors, who came from nine different countries, could see for themselves that clean fish resides within a short distance from the nuclear power station, which has been operational for almost 50 years.
The Leningrad NPP, which lies in the town of Sosnovy Bor, was visited by the competitors as part of the competition, allowing them to learn more about how the nuclear power plant operates. The Leningrad NPP is a distinctive engineering building that incorporates two different types of reactors on its property today. The attendees also had a tour of the town, which has been a hub for the installation of new kinds of reactors and the growth of industrial nuclear power for fifty years.
